Cristina Sá (Portugal 1973) a Visiting Scholar Researcher at UC Berkeley's Institute of European Studies (Portuguese Studies Program) in colaboration with UC Berkeley Center for New Media. She is an Assistant Professor at the School of the Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP), teaching courses in the Media Art, Interactive Art and Digital Culture field. She holds a PhD degree in Communication Science / Audiovisual and Interactive Media from Lisbon’s Nova University. In 2001 she finished the Sound and Image Master, specializing in Digital Arts, at Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) and graduated at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto in 1997. Her main research work is in the field of Interactive Art at UCP’s Research Center for Science and Technology of the Arts (CITAR). She is studying Digital Culture and Expression in Portugal as well as developing an Ontology of the Interface through its experiential effects. She collaborates with Nova’s Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Linguagem (CECL) in the area of Art and Communication and has also collaborated with Barcelona’s Pompeu Fabra University in 2005. Strong commitment to interdisciplinary fields such as Art and Technology due to a hybrid formation in Engineering, Art and Communication.
